On behalf of the Kibuli SS Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Organizing Committee as a vice chair of the publicity committee, i implore old students and well-wishers of the school to throw their weight and support in making the golden jubilee celebrations in June a success. Kibuli SS is 66 years old this year.
The Organising committee has been struggling to marshal finances that would go into the one day celebrations and for the construction of another Girls block which is a priority issue. The school that has over 1,750 students can only house 500 girls and has been turning away others each year.
The proposed Princess Ssangalyambogo Girls Hostel is anticipated to house 400 girls and will alleviate the accommodation dilemma in the school.
The project whose foundation stone was laid by the Kabaka last April is estimated to cost over 800 million shillings and is yet to begin.
As of the last meeting in February during the electoral period, only 6 million shillings in pledges had been realised and yet we have many distinguished and financially able OB.s and OG’s in our society.

I urge you to take this one-time opportunity to forge working relationships with other old students and vibrant Muslims by supporting the Muslim institutions that made what we are today. I therefore implore you to rally to the cause and show up at the meetings that i will communicate in the coming weeks. However, the tentative dates for future meetings are April 9th and 23rd 20011. Those who are able, pop in at the Hotel Africana at 10 am today and see the construction plan of the Girls Hostel as well as the budget for the activities.
